“Joy lies in the fight, in the attempt, in the suffering involved,
not in the victory itself.”~ Mahatma Gandhi
This is your semicolon moment!
The semicolon represents the pause between two complete ideas. In this case, your semicolon represents doing this research – the momentary gap between your old self and your new self.
Now’s your chance to let go of your old self’s powerless behaviors so that your new self can start developing healthier, and more satisfying ways to live.
Recovery Hill deliberately keeps a small caseload of clients to insure each person has the attention they deserve! You won’t find max capacity “group sessions” just to keep seats filled for nine hours a week.
Embracing your authentic self.
Recovery Hill is not a traditional “check-the-box” modality of treatment. Instead, you’ll experience a person-centered approach that focuses on you and your specific needs. Together, we’ll do what’s best just for you – that might involve family or spouse involvement or other supporting cast members. This approach gives time, attunement, and grace by meeting you in your narrative.
At Recovery Hill, you won’t feel trapped in a box of judgment, shame, or stereotyping. You’re an individual – you have unique needs. We’ll work in a relaxed setting that allows you to be yourself.
To be informal.
To be vulnerable.
To say what you need to say.
And yes, even to have fun at times.
A customized plan created by your needs
Free of that one-size-fits-all approach, we’ll keep your treatment fluid and situation-based.
Sobriety can have an intrinsic (inner) cultivation. One day we may be doing deep meditation, and the next we may enjoy the weather in a walk-and-talk style therapy. We may focus on education and awareness in one session, but deep trauma work the next.
We’ll mold and adapt your treatment plan to your needs at each moment in your journey.
It works because you work it.
Despite whatever article you’ve read, there simply isn’t some magic pill of modern science that can provide a miracle cure. If one did exist, someone in recovery would take two!
As we work together, we won’t try to reinvent the wheel, but we will use the most recent research and a you-centered approach to give you the very best treatment.
By nurturing an honest, vulnerable environment, together, we’ll work toward your holistic wellness.
Sobriety is not a jealous, resentment-filled existence; that is just abstinence at best. If your goal is to “just stay clean” or to “take a break from substances to fix stuff,” you’re missing the mark.
Sobriety is an evolution of your mind, body, spirit, and human connectedness.
And we can make that happen.
Who’s Kenny?
I am passionate about what I do and about your wellness.
But how did I get here?
Quickly after being honorably discharged from the Army as an active duty infantryman, my already established addiction really kicked up a notch.
My semicolon moment happened in early 2007, and I have continued to develop as a person ever since. Recovery has given me a life beyond measure, and I truly enjoy walking with others through their own journeys.
My path to recovery gave me a fulfilling desire to work with others like myself.
I am a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor through the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals – a long name for someone who works with those who struggle with chemical use.
As a recovering addict, I began being helping other addicts over ten years ago and have been working in the field since 2014. I have been blessed to have studied under some of the top minds and trainers in the fields of addiction and trauma: Jon Daily of Recovery Happens and Lisa Larson of Pacific Counseling and Trauma Center.
I’m a Certified Brainspotting Therapist. My own journey of healing from combat-related PTSD also gave me a desire
to serve others with trauma. The trauma work I do is fast, efficient, and different. I also use EFT (Tapping) to help with a myriad of symptoms clients report having.
As a Certified Intervention Specialist, I conduct thorough, and financially appropriate Interventions for families that have “run out of options.”
Lastly, I am a Certified Personal Trainer. Having this skill set allows me to come at mental wellness from a unique angle.
All of my credentialing is put into practice before ever using them in Recovery Hill. I believe in practicing what you preach!
You can read more about Brainspotting in the Trauma section – it’s pretty cool.
